I had one of the best grandmothers in all the world. Granny Chase’s life was hard and filled with more hardship and hurt than most people I know. She suffered from mean and abusive husbands, disappointments from children, buried spouses and children. She was poor often destitute by most of our standards. Yet, she didn’t let all that negative energy stop her from being the most positive person I’ve known.
Granny looked for something good in every person. She sought out the favorable in the most unfavorable conditions. She didn’t complain or murmur. Instead, she would compliment, encourage and show her sunny disposition through every hard time.
It is because of my Granny Chase that I’ve learned that there’s always something positive, even in a negative situation. We often forget to seek the Lord during our trials. If we would do that, our burdens would be lessened immensely.
I pray that the Lord will help me to be more like Granny. Less crying and more cheering!
