If You Can Do Better, Do Better

So many times as a child of God I see areas of my life that really need improving. God expects me to go on to perfection…Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, (Hebrews 6:1 KJV)

The brother of Jesus reminds me that If I know to do good and don’t do it it is sinful. I remember a lot of times when I was young growing up near Hillsboro, Texas, people who drove down our road in the rain would get stuck right on top of the ground. Their tires would just spin on the slick mud. Do we sometimes just sit in one place spinning our wheels?

A wise preacher once said these startling words “If you know you can do better, then do better.”What is weighing us down? “…let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,” (Hebrews 12:1 ESV).

Often is self-doubt, fear, or apathy. Don’t let these “comfortable” sins keep us from being all that God is calling us to be.
