“I Need Thee Every Hour,” still ranks near the top of my list of prayer songs. The older I get and the more feeble my body and mind become the more I realize the great truths in this song. However, with all the frustrations of life in our country right now, this stanza rings to my heart a great reminder.
“I need thee ev’ry hour;
Stay thou nearby.
Temptations lose their pow’r
When thou art nigh.”
Where my Jesus is the devil cannot win. Every hour of every day demands that I cling closely to Jesus side. Our Jesus is always willing to be with us (Matthew 28:19-20). I need to be quick to call him to my side.
Remember, where to go to be with the Lord! Prayer is one place to meet him. With fellow saints ( Matthew 18:20). In places of service for Jesus is always with the poor and needy. Jesus abides in the throne room of God, so in seeking God I will always find Jesus. Places of trial and tribulation. The three Hebrews Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednigo had a fourth man in the fire; Jesus was with them. Paul said at his trial and defense when all abandoned him the Lord stood with him.
I pray today that God will help me follow the Lamb wherever he goes so that where he is I will be also!
